Greater Brisbane Conference

History

The Greater Brisbane Conference was formed in 2014. It was conceived as an avenue for students of schools across Brisbane and the surrounding areas to participate in a breadth of sports and develop their skills and abilities. The Conference has also provided schools with an avenue to gain renown through the attainment of Premierships and Championships.

The founding GBC member schools (Faith Lutheran College, Plainland, Faith Lutheran College, Redlands, Rivermount College and The Springfield Anglican College) formed a competition that was in keeping with their own ideals and school cultures. From its infancy of just four schools the conference grew to six schools with the inclusions of Sheldon College (2015) and Redeemer Lutheran College (2017).

In 2020, Ambrose Treacy College and Brigidine College joined the Greater Brisbane Conference with founding member school, Faith Lutheran College, Redlands moving on from the Conference.

GBC began as a co-educational conference of schools with a brief to create dynamic, sporting competitions for the students of member schools within the Conference and has thrived with this as its fundamental aim
